Broad introduction to the field of bioinformatics. Overview of DNA/RNA, proteins and the central dogma. Biological databases and searching. The new biology lab. Alignment tools. Protein structure and function. Overview of phylogenetics. May be taken for graduate credit by students in fields other than computer science. Prerequisite: BiSc 14. (Spring)
