CS Student is Repeat Winner of Achivement Rewards for College Scientists (ARCS) Scholarship

Ben Hosp, doctoral student in Computer Science at GW, is one of three SEAS students awarded the ARCS Foundation Scholarship for the academic year 2006-2007. The Scholarship provides $15,000 in tuition and supplies, and was instituted to encourage the study of he natural sciences, engineering and medicine among American graduate students. Approximately 15-20 students are chosen annually from the DC Metro area.

Ben's areas of interest are electronic voting and the use of information-theoretic models in cryptography and its applications. He enjoys the combination of intellectual challenge and social relevance provided by electronic voting, and hopes to develop a means of comparing various voting systems on the extent of privacy, integrity and verifiability they provide. After graduation, he would like to teach at a liberal arts college.
