Research Assistant--Summer ProjectJob DescriptionThe IMF’s Monetary and Capital Markets Department (MCM) has an opening for a contractual research assistant in the Asia and Western Hemisphere regional division (MCMR2). MCM has set up a high frequency market indicators database to help mission teams track global, regional and country developments over a variety of asset classes. This tool transfers data from Bloomberg to a web server and allows customization and data sharing between MCM divisions and area departments. The selected candidate will work with other research assistants in MCM to collect and manipulate data and incorporate it in the tool. The tool will require regular updates and resolution of any issues that arise. Additional responsibilities may include data analysis using statistical/econometric techniques, conducting model-based simulation exercises, and drafting summaries and reports under the supervision of experienced economists. The position is project-based and limited to three months. Qualifications Completion of an undergraduate degree in computer programming, mathematics, statistics or other quantitative field is required. The candidate has to be fluent in JavaScript, ASP.Net, Excel and VBA. Familiarity with EViews, Matlab, or similar applications, and a good understanding of advanced statistics or econometrics would be a plus. Other essential qualifications include ability to work as a member of a diverse team, strong work ethic, precision and accuracy, willingness to learn, and excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. |
